With the high number of vehicles circulating in the streets and a big number of factories, there is a lot of air pollution, because they send into the atmosphere big quantities of CO2.
Land Contamination
There are some areas in S. João da Madeira, where the fields are polluted, not only because the human put trash there, but also because of the use of chemicals, fertilizers, among other substances in agriculture. Lands contain substances that may harm not only the environment but also the human health.
Water Pollution
Nowadays, it’s very usual to walk by some rivers and
see that pollution is everywhere.With this problem the water will affect not only the
organics which live there, but also the plants.
The main cause of water pollution is the dumping,
directly or indirectly, of waste into the rivers.
